If you like classic muscle cars with unparalleled power and performance, you've probably looked at the Ford Mustang. It's been giving drivers thrills behind the wheel since the 1960s, and each generation dominates with even more power while performing even better than the last. But it's been a few years since Ford made notable changes in the Mustang. Well, the wait's almost over with the imminent arrival of the 2024 Ford Mustang, a new-generation vehicle set to turn heads with a top-to-bottom makeover.

This newest model has a new look, powertrains, and a fresh list of features and options. The highlights on the options list include RECARO bucket front seats, an active exhaust, upgraded Brembo brakes, and a MagneRide suspension. Also, the GT and EcoBoost trims have a new Performance Pack package. And if you're ready to hit the track, check out the new Dark Horse model, with its Coyote V-8 engine and performance upgrades. Read on to learn everything you need to know about the 2024 Ford Mustang.

An American Legacy

Ever since the Ford Mustang charged onto the muscle car scene back in 1964, it hasn't looked back. Thriving for almost six decades now, this high-performance car's popularity remains unchallenged. And despite competitors with new technology and innovation constantly hitting the market, the Mustang remains the icon that keeps getting better.

What's New for 2024?

The 2024 Ford Mustang  has an extensive new list of features. A new 5.0-liter V-8 engine issuing 500 horsepower will power the Dark Horse trims, but you can also opt for a new 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine.

On the outside, the new Mustang will have revised headlights and taillights, a newly designed hexagonal grille, and an updated diffuser and air ducts. You can also stand out in your new Mustang by choosing two new exterior colors, Vapor Blue and Yellow Spanish.

Step inside the Mustang to see the new 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster with updated graphics. And if you want to upgrade your touch screen, you can get one that stretches to 13.2 inches. A flat-bottomed steering wheel adds to the car's sporty feel, and there are overhead USB ports to plug in your dash cameras.

If you'd like to impress your friends, check out the Mustang's remote key fob engine-revving function. As you all stand around it, you can use the fob to show off the car's low growl.

Performance

The 2024 Ford Mustang base engine is still the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder. But its newest iteration has more horses, generating 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. With an all-new powertrain, a 5.0-liter V-8 powers the GT models, putting out 480 horsepower and delivering 415 lb-ft of torque. In contrast, the Dark Horse pairs with a Coyote V-8, churning out 500 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque.

And while the EcoBoost engine works with a 10-speed automatic transmission, you can get an automatic or six-speed manual with a GT. Also, all trims come with rear-wheel drive.

Can't wait to get sideways in your Mustang? If so, you'll like the track-focused upgrades in the Performance Pack. This package includes the first-ever electronic drift brake in a Mustang that Ford calls the Performance Electronic Parking Brake. It's a shorthand lever on the driver's side next to the center console and works like a regular hand brake. The Performance Pack also offers an active suspension, larger Brembo brakes in the front and back, and wider rear wheels.

Technology

A new digital gauge cluster sits in front of the driver in the new 2024 Ford Mustang, and the large center touch screen has crisp, clear graphics. Ford's SYNC 4 system works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and you can get a wireless charging pad. Your Mustang will also have Amazon Alexa and Ford Streaming with voice commands to help you keep your hands on the wheel.

Moreover, you can fully customize both screens, allowing you to choose your driving experience with a simple swipe across the screen. The graphics are the work of Unreal Engine, an open and advanced real-time three-dimensional creation platform behind video games such as Fortnite.

Interior Features

This new-generation Mustang is identical in size to its predecessor, seating four passengers. Expect cloth upholstery in the entry-level models, while a Premium upgrade gets you heated and ventilated front seats covered in simulated leather and a power-adjustable driver's seat. The Mustang also has a heated steering wheel and RECARO sport seats available. Additionally, Ford gives you six different interior theme choices, making it easy to customize the look to suit your style.

You'll quickly notice how the 2024 Mustang brings interior ambiance to a new level with the ambient light settings you can customize. So prepare to immerse yourself in your created environment and enhance your driving experience with the perfect lighting to match your mood.

Safety Features and Ratings

Every 2024 Ford Mustang comes with the Ford Co-Pilot 360 driver-aid bundle. This means that no matter your model, your Mustang will come with forward collision warning, automatic braking, and lane-keep assist. The bundle also includes traffic sign recognition and lane departure warning.

With the above safety systems, the 2024 Ford Mustang now has reverse automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-centering assist.

While the safety ratings aren't out yet for the 2024 Mustang, the 2023 model earned a five-star rating on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration tests. It also scored a Good rating on the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's crash testing.
