Gary Gasper, CEO of family-owned Interstate Office Products passed away on March 8th 2022, at the age of 56.

Many businesses and offices in Sioux Falls are furnished by Interstate Office Products, and tens of thousands of employees have them to thank for the chairs they sit on and the desks they work at. Interstate Office Products even delivers nationwide and to Canada.

Gaspar was a committed member of our community, a loyal friend and a proud family man. A person of tremendous faith, intellect and work ethic.

According to Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken, “Gary’s fingerprints are everywhere in this community. When you think about what One Sioux Falls truly means, Gary is the personification of that phrase: a successful businessman, a caring family man, an incredibly involved community member, a dedicated board champion for many organizations.”

Gaspar’s influence was wide-reaching. He was named board chair of Avera Health in 2021. He also served on the boards of the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, Bishop O’Gorman Catholic Schools, Junior Achievement, Sioux Falls Catholic Schools Foundation, Main Street Business Improvement District and Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls Investment Committee.

Gaspar's family acknowledged that he died after battling depression. "He would want you to honor his memory by asking for help - anywhere - if you or someone you care about is struggling," they said. "Gary leaves behind an incredible legacy. But if that legacy could include saving one life, it would mean the most of all."

The family requested memorials to be directed to Avera Foundation’s Light the Way Campaign. This is a 60,000 square foot addition to the Avera Behavioral Health Hospital that will help provide resources and support through mental health. This is the region’s largest philanthropic campaign to support behavior health patients in our area.

Gaspar was a great friend to us here at Sioux Falls Ford, enjoying a relationship built on a passion of the automotive, including racing his Mustang and getting into one of Ford’s first EV models, the Mach-E.

In honor of Gary Gaspar, Sioux Falls Ford and Avera Foundation’s Light the Way Campaign are teaming up to help support the expansion of the Avera Behavioral Health Hospital. In the coming months, we will be announcing a special opportunity that will help raise funds (hint: it has something to do with the hard-to-get new Bronco Raptor). Stay connected through our website and social media for more news in the future.
