The SupportBeltTM serves a recognized need for recovering mastectomy patients, and it’s a continuation of the long-standing commitment by Ford to support women and the breast cancer cause.

WHY A SUPPORTBELT?

Many mastectomy patients would dread driving in their vehicles after surgery. Many find it hard to wear a seatbelt properly after surgery. The goal of the SupportBelt is for woman to NOT compromise their safety while driving.

Many women don’t wear their seat belts properly after mastectomy surgery due to the discomfort.

The shape and curvature of the Ford SupportBelt incorporated the thoughtful input of patients, doctors, engineers, designers and other experts.

Extensive research and development by the Ford Human Centered Design team led to a product that attaches easily and securely to the seat belt and provides much-needed comfort to mastectomy patients struggling with pain from open wounds, scars, swelling, radiation, chemo ports and other discomforts associated with surgery.

  • Unfasten the Velcro straps of the SupportBelt
  • Place your vehicle’s seatbelt in the channel on the front
  • Fasten the Velcro straps over the seatbelt so that it is secured in place
  • Slide the SupportBelt into a comfortable position across your chest
  • Good to go!

VALIDATED BY FORD

Researched, designed and validated by Ford, the SupportBelt is the first device of its kind to be developed by a U.S. automaker. Driven by the passion to build a better world where every person is free to move and pursue their dreams, Ford felt the need to offer this accessory at no cost to mastectomy patients in the U.S. who reserve it.

With 30 years in the fight together, Ford and Warriors in Pink are dedicated to making the journey easier. The SupportBelt is the latest example of how Ford continues to support the breast cancer cause.
