Your support of our business January – March helps provide 175 days of safe shelter at the Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety. It costs around $143 for a day of safe shelter for an individual. Our goal: $25,000.

The Mission of Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety (formerly Children’s Inn) is to prevent, treat and heal trauma. A world that stands up to trauma where all people are safe, healthy and resilient.

They provide free and confidential services for women, children, and men who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, or neglect. From Emergency Shelter to Outreach and Advocacy, the services focus on helping individuals who have experienced violence heal.

Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety is here to help you live free from abuse. They will provide guidance every step of the way, helping you stop the cycle of abuse.

Emergency Shelter
Are you, or is someone you love, a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, child abuse or neglect? Our emergency shelter is a safe, secure facility that provides emergency shelter to individuals who are victims of family violence, stalking, sexual assault, child abuse or neglect. There is no cost to stay at Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety.

Crisis Intervention
Call our crisis hotline or stop in for in-person crisis counseling with trained professionals. We are available 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. All calls and counseling services are completely confidential. We can help you stop the cycle of abuse.

Counseling & Support Groups
We offer individual, child, and family counseling to individuals who have experienced abuse. Support groups are also available for women, teens, men, and children.

Outreach & Advocacy
You don't have to do this alone. Our outreach and advocacy services are available to help you through court proceedings, medical appointments, and more.

Be Informed
Approximately 1 out of 3 women in South Dakota will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. Learn about the effects of domestic violence and what you can do to encourage safety.

Affecting the Children
  • Many children who witness violence are themselves abused
  • Children who witness domestic violence may develop serious emotional and behavioral problems
  • Children who witness domestic violence are at greater risk of being violent or experiencing violence in future relationships

Child Advocate Volunteer
Child advocates provide companionship, comfort, and care to children staying in shelter. Child advocates are needed in the evening, from 5:30-7:30pm to assist with mealtime, activities, and preparing for bedtime. Child Advocate volunteers commit to one 2-hour shift per week.
