Welcome to another edition of #MeetUsMonday here Sioux Falls Ford Lincoln!
Today, we'd like to introduce you to Chris Dorr, Parts Specialist at our new store on W. 26th Street.
Have you been helped by Chris? We'd love to hear from you in the comments!
Question: How long have you been part of the Sioux Falls Ford Lincoln team?
Chris: It will be 13 years in March. I started out as a technician in the service shop and went to parts from there.
Q: What things make the parts department different from other departments in the dealership?
C: Everything is always so black and white when it comes to how we do our processes. Every person does every process the same way, it is the only way it works in the parts department with so many moving pieces. This way, each of us can jump in and help each other in any situation.
Q: What does a typical day look like for you?
C: I start out the mornings getting special ordered parts to techs and to customers around town. From there it’s all about taking care of needs – phone calls, technician requests and service advisor questions. Parts is the go-to place for questions. If others don’t know, they come to us!
Q: What is different about the parts department in our new Ford/Lincoln building? What improvements?
C: We have more space and better shelving that makes for better usable space. It’s also a lot brighter.
Q: Just curious, what is the biggest part, by size, that you order?
C: The biggest part would probably be a pickup cab or pickup box. Probably a Super Duty 8 foot box. The longest length part would be a pickup frame. We can even order these parts from Ford so they go directly to the customer.
Q: What is your favorite vehicle on the lot? Why?
C: My favorite would have to be the F-150 Ecoboost pickup just because of everything it can do. It has great power and capability. I can tow a boat going 80 miles an hour and it feels like it’s not even there.
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
C: Fishing and hanging out with friends & family. Family is #1!
Q: There is a nickname that coworkers have for you, what is it?
C: They call me the Walking Encyclopedia. You can’t work in parts for this long without learning a lot about them!
Has our very own Walking Encyclopedia helped you with your parts? Leave your comments below!
