All of the F-150 aficionados who have been patiently biding their time, waiting for the Ford F-150 and Raptor performance trucks that feature a new 10-speed transmission and next-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine are celebrating, as over 7,500 of the dynamic trucks have been shipped to dealers across the country.

Ford held the trucks back in order to conduct additional quality tests that are a routine process in Ford’s launch ramp-up; roughly 7,500 more trucks will be delivered to dealers before the end of the year.

"Building and holding new models for additional testing is a quality process that has been part of our standard for more than a decade," declared Ford spokesman Mike Levine.

The 10-speed transmission is built using steel, aluminum and other composites in order to save weight, and offers optimized gear spacing for better acceleration.

This now presents four engine options for the 2017 F-150: a 3.5-liter V6, 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6, 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 and a 5.0-liter V8. The 3.5-liter Ecoboost will be paired with the new 10-speed transmission, while the other three engines will be mated to a six-speed automatic.
